CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -Sunday night, Mary was inside her west side Cleveland house when her dogs started barking.
When she went outside, her house had been covered in hateful graffiti.
“They said your house was vandalized I looked. Look at it,” she said. Wednesday, there were tears of a different kind.
“I just can't thank you all enough. I'm indebted to you for even thinking about me in the time of need,” Mary said.
Dozens of people have reached out through Twitter, Facebook, and to Cleveland 19, wanting to help.
Harry and his wife, Angela, saw our story. “I’m here because it’s the right thing to do. I felt bad, saw the story,” Harry said.
“You see what we are doing here. It’s a lot of hard work. I’m glad I have some volunteers, of friends and neighbors. This is a big job,” Mary said.
Through a lot of hard work, they’ve been able to get most of the paint off of the gate.
Mary tells Cleveland 19 ′s Lacey Crisp she is overwhelmed by the generosity of neighbors, friends, and complete strangers.
“I am so grateful. I didn’t realize how many people out there who are willing to help in a time of need after such a senseless act,” Mary said.
