CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Urban Meyer stepped down this week in a move that surprised many, except one of his former players.
Blake Thomas, who was a part of Meyer’s first recruiting class at Ohio State, says the stress of being at Ohio State can be too much for many.
“If anything he’s guilty of caring too much, and putting too much pressure on himself to do right by the team, and do right by the program.”
Meyer has a history of health problems and cited that as the reason for him stepping down, but Thomas says the overall pressure to win at a high level can be too much for some to take.
“I think if you put the average person in the position Coach Meyer was in for 6 months I bet they would crack.”
