CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - It was a night that will be remembered by the people who were there as another moment in the growing legend of Baker Mayfield. Mayfield stole the show at the Providence House Deck the House Auction Benefit, presented by the Cleveland Browns.
“Who has the deep pockets in here," Mayfield asked as he auctioned off dinner with him and his fiancee. When the bidding started, it was dinner for six. By the time Mayfield was done working the crowd, the bidding was well over $40,000, and up to two dinners, which included 20 people.
Mayfield promised the dinner with his new friends would be a night to remember, “If there is one thing I learned in Oklahoma, since there is not much out there, it’s how to have a good time.”
Mayfield may have stolen the show but, the real winners will be the young children that Providence House helps with safe and stable housing.
For 37 years, Providence House has provided a safe landing spot for kids who have parents that may be struggling, “Anything from homelessness to domestic violence or alcohol addiction to a mental health crisis,” said spokesperson Kayla Naticchioni.
Providence House takes in those young kids at no cost to the parents, and it is an expensive proposition.
