CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Christmas is just days away and the Greater Cleveland area is still in need of toy donations.
Major Tom Applin, with the Salvation Army, stopped by our Cleveland 19 Studios to discuss how much your help is appreciated. He described the looks on parents faces as they receive donations each year, knowing they will be able to give their children at least one present.
Cleveland 19’s Erin Logan knows first-hand how thankful families are to receive help each holiday season.
“At 68 years old, my dad still talks about the excitement he and his siblings experienced when they got even one small present from the Salvation Army. If it weren’t for donations, they would go to school feeling sad that they didn’t get to enjoy Christmas as every child should,” said Logan.
Erin feels fortunate that her parents made Christmas an amazing day every single year. She’s hosting a toy drive on Sunday, Dec. 16, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 3 Palms Pizzeria, 281 Main St. in Westlake’s Crocker Park. Logan says, “If you bring an unwrapped present for a child, you will be given some delicious free food. Most importantly, you will make a child smile this holiday.”
All donations will go to the Salvation Army and the Boys and Girls Club.
