Euclid residents speak out against reinstatement of officer in viral beating video

Euclid police officer Michael Amiott was caught on dashcam and cell phone video beating Richard Hubbard III in August 2017. The video went viral.

Officer Amiott was initially suspended for 15 days by the Euclid police chief. He was then fired by Euclid Mayor Kirsten Gail in October 2017.

A year later, in October 2018, Amiott was reinstated to his position after an arbitrator ruled that Gail didn’t have cause to terminate him.

On Monday, several members of the Euclid community attended the city council meeting to speak out against Amiott, who they say shouldn’t be back patrolling the streets.
