Taste Buds look back on 2018 food trends and ahead to 2019

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - It’s time for Taste Buds, Cleveland 19′s weekly video podcast discussing all things food, dining and cooking.

Taste Buds look back on 2018 food trends and ahead to 2019

This week is the last episode of the year, and the trio of food experts will discuss the hottest food trends of 2018 that dominated kitchens and menus. They will also look ahead at some of the industry trends that we expect to see popping up locally and across the country in the new year.

The show is hosted by Jen Picciano of Cleveland 19 News' Cleveland Cooks, Matt Mytro, Chef/Partner at Flour in Moreland Hills, and David Kocab, Chef de Cuisine at The Black Pig in Ohio City.

This week’s episode will take you inside the new Next Door New American Eatery in Pinecrest shopping center. The restaurant boasts “real food” free of additives and locally-sourced, and incorporates technology that the Musk name is famous for. The restaurant is owned by Kimbal Musk, brother of Elon Musk of Tesla and SpaceX.

Among the food trends that the Taste Buds will discuss, “gut friendly” dishes on menus, carefully curated music to use as a branding tool and strategy for restaurants, and the “ghost restaurant” concept. Those are establishments that focus exclusively on take out and/or delivery from a quiet, unmarked location.

Catch Taste Buds live at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays, on Cleveland 19′s Facebook Live broadcast, our app or the website. You can also watch the show through Amazon Fire TV and Roku. Chime in live and we’ll read your comments and questions live on the show.
