CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Community leaders in the Akron community announced new strategies to improve safety for college students and people in the area on Wednesday.
Plans about ongoing initiatives and investments around the Exchange Street Corridor were discussed.
The city is releasing a CleanUpFixUp mobile app.
The app will allow people in the community to alert city leaders about non-function street lights, high weeds and any issue law enforcement should be aware of.
At the meeting officials said there would be a higher presence of law enforcement in the area, this also includes a change in shift hours for officers.
More than 200 Emergency Blue Lights are also up around campus in this area.
