Garfield Heights man pleads guilty to murdering his wife

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - A 46-year-old Garfield Heights man has pleaded guilty to murdering his wife in 2017.

The trial for Monte Woodley was scheduled to start Wednesday; however, he ended up pleading guilty on Tuesday.

Woodley murdered Lavora Allen, 38, on May 1, 2017.

Her body was found in the basement of their Orme Road home after she was reported missing by family members.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner said Allen was strangled.

Allen ran her own business helping elderly and disabled people

She was the mother of five children, but two were killed in the past two decades.

Woodley stole Allen’s car after the murder and was on the run for several weeks, before being arrested.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 25.
