The victory fridges were loaded with beer in anticipation of a Cleveland Browns win. An electromagnetic lock kept the fridges locked until a Browns victory.
.That win came on Sept. 20, 2018 after 19 consecutive games without a win.
McCormick is storing the fridge in the judges' chambers, where he plans to fill it with beer, chain it shut, and patiently wait for a Super Bowl victory.
“I’m thinking within three years,” McCormick said. “I’ve been a season ticket holder since 1982, I’ve weathered the storm and hopefully there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.”
McCormick was joined in his chambers by Cuyahoga County employee John Thompson, affectionately known in Cleveland as Big Dawg from the Cleveland Browns Dawg Pound.
The duo believe it’s time for a Browns Super Bowl appearance.
“We have those hopes back again,” Thompson said. “We’ve been waiting quite awhile.”
McCormick’s victory fridge will wait, and these two long time season ticket holders won’t stop believing and hoping that the day will come and the victory fridge will live up to its name.
