CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Marijuana dispensaries are expecting long lines as medical marijuana goes on sale for the first time in Ohio this morning.
Four dispensaries are selling medical marijuana in Ohio.
The Botanist on Greentree Avenue in Canton is the only dispensary in Northeast Ohio at the moment to sell medical marijuana.
Here’s a full list of medical marijuana facilities in Ohio that are opened at this time:
- CY+ Medical Marijuana Dispensary on Main Street in Steubenville
- The Forest on Tiffin Avenue in Sandusky
- The Ohio Valley Natural Relief on Canton Road in Wintersville
- The Botanist on Greentree Avenue in Canton
“I arrived early this morning and we already had our first patient waiting. I think by 5 a.m. People have been ready and waiting and we’re so happy to be able to open our doors today,” said Kara Lambert, who works at the Forest.
Chronic pain from her rheumatoid arthritis has Christine McCourt trying medical marijuana.
“You feel like having medicine, and I hope it’s helpful for me and I think it will be. So, I’m looking forward to it. We’ll see,” she said.
Doctors certified by the state have to recommend (not prescribe) the natural drug to people suffering from any one of 21 approved aliments.
There are nearly 8,000 people in Ohio with medical cards who are eligible to purchase medical marijuana. Prices for the line of products will be determined by a few factors, including what certified doctors recommend, demand and availability of various products.
There are a number medical marijuana options from infused products, to eatables, capsules, topicals, patches and lotions that will be available in the spring.
