Tow truck crash sends drivers to Metro Hospital

FAIRVIEW PARK, OH (WOIO) - The Fairview Park Police Department is investigating an accident that took place overnight at West 204th and Lorain.

Police say it was a head-on collision with a tow truck that sent two people to the hospital around 4 a.m. Monday.

The crash, which was caught on camera by police cruiser dashcam, showed a vehicle approaching from the opposite direction while a tow truck driver worked to get a separate vehicle ready to be towed from the area.

The approaching vehicle slammed into the tow truck, which then runs into the vehicle where video shows the tow truck driver working, pinning him underneath the car.

The tow truck driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but those injuries were not expected to be life-threatening, police said.

Police did not say whether the driver would face any criminal charges, but told Cleveland 19 News they are continuing to investigate the circumstances around the crash.
