Bath Township man accused of running over 73-year-old pleads not guilty to hit-skip

AKRON, OH (WOIO) - A 56-year-old Bath Township man, who is embroiled in a deadly hit-and-run incident, pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in Akron Municipal Court on Thursday.

On March 3, Akron Police allege that Monte Porter III struck an elderly man who was retrieving his newspaper on Merriman Road.

The victim, Ernest Liska, 73, later died at Cleveland Clinic Akron General from his injuries.

Porter is charged with vehicular homicide, hit-skip, left of center, failure to control and driving under suspension.

His bond was set at $250,000.
