Life in prison for the couple who murdered two people in Tremont

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - A boyfriend and girlfriend who pleaded guilty to a brutal double murder in Tremont were sentenced to life in prison.

James Hill, 42, and his girlfriend, Barbara Wolford, 31, pleaded guilty to murder and aggravated robbery.

They killed a Cleveland State University janitor and his live-in girlfriend.

Janitor Harold Emery, 63, and Rita Berish, 54, were found murdered inside their home at 3151 Scranton Ave. on June 8, 2018.

Cleveland police officers were called to the home for a welfare check after Emery missed work for a couple of days.

Police said Emery was shot and Berish was stabbed.

Hill is eligible for parole after 35 years and Wolford is eligible for parole after 25 years.
