$1 million bond set for suspect accused of murdering 90-year-old Mansfield man

MANSFIELD, OH (WOIO) - The suspect accused of murdering a 90-year-old Mansfield man pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in Mansfield Municipal Court Thursday.

Cody Lutz, 31, is charged with aggravated murder for the death of Omar Brown.

Brown was found murdered in his own home at the Morchester Villa Apartments Tuesday morning.

Brown recently celebrated his 90th birthday with a big party at the apartment complex community center.

Mansfield police said evidence at the scene led them to Lutz and he was arrested in Medina County several hours later.

Police have not released a motive.

Lutz is being held on a $1 million bond.

Brown’s friends were shocked by the murder.

“Omar was an awesome man and anybody would have loved him and to go this way was unforgivable,” Joyce Lehman said.
