Solon officer punched, bitten by out-of-control inmate, police say

SOLON, OH (WOIO) - A Solon Police corrections officer trying to serve dinner at the city prison was attacked and bitten by an inmate on March 17.

According to Solon Police, the fight spilled into a prison hallway, where the inmate ripped a fire extinguisher off the wall to possibly use as a weapon.

The guard then tackled the prisoner, and was bitten on the hand.

Robert Gullia, 28, of Solon, was charged with felonious assault and harassment by an inmate.

The guard was taken to a nearby medical facility, and was treated.
