CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Friday morning the funeral will be held for Camilo Gabriel Sr., who was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on March 15.
The 10 a.m. service is being held at Saint Michael Archangel Roman Catholic Church on Scranton Road.
Gabriel was with his wife, Vilma, in a crosswalk, on West 25th and Woodbridge Avenue when an SUV struck as they were heading to a doctor’s appointment at MetroHealth.
This month the couple planned to celebrate their 39th wedding anniversary.
Monday, Cleveland Police said the SUV believed to be involved with the incident was located and towed from at a home in the 12100 block of Emery, but no arrests have been made.
Investigators have not answered Cleveland 19′s questions regarding who the vehicle is registered to or if they have identified a suspect.
Gabriel’s family describe him as a man of integrity who treated others with respect.
“Camilo Gabriel Sr., was a very kind and gentle man who loved all people as much as his friends and family," wrote his children on Facebook.
“He was a very loving, giving man, who loved to tell jokes and make people laugh. He was a man of integrity and respect for others. And if you needed help, Camilo Gabriel Sr. would do his best to help you out. (no questions asked) He was a genuine person, who wanted the best for his family and his people. He loved people and he had a heart of gold.”
