MENTOR-ON-THE-LAKE, OH (WOIO) - The Mentor-on-the-Lake Police Department said officers were called to Giant Eagle on Andrews Road at 10 p.m. on Saturday for a shoplifting.

Police said the suspect excited the store with a cart of unpaid items.

The suspect fled on foot when an officer approached him, police said.

According to police, the officer pursued the suspect toward the Marine Parkway area.

Police said the suspect yelled out to the officer that he had a gun.

But, no gun was brandished, according to police.

Police said the Fairport Harbor Police Department and their K-9 helped Mentor-on-the-Lake officers search the area for the suspect.

Police described the suspect as a man with a stocky build wearing black rubber boots, a black coat, and jeans.

Mentor-on-the-Lake police warn people to not approach the suspect if spotted.
