Missing Jackson Township dog found lifeless in half-frozen pond; search continues for second dog

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) - A Jackson Township couple received some somber news Tuesday after one of their prized Bernese Mountain dogs was found dead in a local pond.

“My family and I have sad news to report. Today we found Bear’s body. The morning of March 8th, the ponds were lightly covered with ice. We now believe that Bear fell through the ice and couldn’t get back up,” wrote Morgan De Matteis on her Facebook page Tuesday.

The post announcing the dog’s disappearance was shared 360,000 times on Facebook, and the couple is still holding out hope that their other dog, Leo, didn’t meet the same fate.

A $1,500 reward is being offered for Leo’s safe return.

(See this post for daily updates) REWARD $1,500.00 *no questions asked My family is just heartbroken. I want to thank...
