CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -At least four cars have been damaged in Slavic Village Friday morning.
One of the break-ins was caught on surveillance video. The victims believed it’s the same guy who was searching for money.
“They got to do it because they’re desperate,” said Margaret Zaleski. Zaleski owns Fleet Bike and lives upstairs. She said she walked outside around 7 a.m. and noticed two windows on her min-van smashed.
The surveillance video showed the man smashing a backseat window and crawling in the backseat.
“That guy was in my truck for two minutes,” said Zaleski. “After that two minutes, you can see him crawl back out the window. He didn’t get away with much, just change.”
Zaleski said she had “mad money.”
"I have five dollars in change, singles and he just got that. That was all. It’s frustrating because we would give you a couple of dollars if you wanted it and a lot of people in this neighborhood would,” said Zaleski.
A quarter of a mile away, Joan Ringholz woke up to a similar situation.
In this case, three cars in her driveway were damaged and two were broken into.
“I ran inside to tell my husband. My son came downstairs, well his window was broken in his car,” said Ringholz.
19 News asked, “What did they take from the car?” Ringholz replied, “Nothing, ransacked it. Just went through the glove compartment I guess to see if there was money.”
Ringholz was relieved to learn about Zaleski’s surveillance video.
“Probably the same guy who is doing it to see how much money he can get for beer or drugs or who knows what,” said Zaleski.
Zaleski believes the incidents are related. “I do, I think it was the same guy,” said Zaleski.
