Moments before the wild attack, Ted Jones says he was standing in line inside the Speedway off Exchange street in Akron, trying to buy some cigars.

“That’s when everything really started to go bad,” he said.

Jones said he stepped in when he heard an argument break out over hot dogs.

“That’s what made me turn, cause I was like: ‘Uh oh, someone was in here stealing hot dogs,’” he said.

Jones says a group of girls started beating up a customer who called one of them out for taking a hot dog without paying.

“When something happens, everybody’s pulling out their phones and it’s like, who’s helping? Somebody has to help,” Jones said.

He said when he couldn’t get the women off the victim, he pulled out his phone and recorded a video to disburse the group.

It worked, but he took the heat for it outside.

In his video, you can see a girl hit him and another is spitting at him.

“On the way out, I was still recording, and they were still throwing stuff at us,” he said.

A witness recorded a clip from another angle. That’s when you see one of the girls hurling around a gas pump hose.

That video has now been viewed millions of times on social media.

“I wasn’t expecting that much attention,” Jones said.

Luckily, police showed up before Jones or anyone else got seriously hurt.

Police say they have not identified any of the suspects in the video yet, so there have not been any arrests.

However, if officers track them down, they could face assault and theft charges.
