David Pingalore joined 19 Action News as a sports anchor/reporter on April 6, 2005. Coming to Cleveland from Scranton, PA, David worked in sports for six years there (1999-2005), covering Penn State football and Super Bowl XXXIX, when the Philadelphia Eagles played in the big game for the first time since 1981.
David has a long list of TV jobs on his resume. He started in the business as an intern at WTVT-TV in Tampa, FL. His first assignment ... a road trip to an NFL football game in San Francisco. How many interns can say that, huh?
From there, he started his first on-air job in 1995 at WJKS in Jacksonville, FL. As weekend sports anchor, he was able to be a part of the Jacksonville Jaguars first year in the NFL. In 1997, it was off to Johnstown, PA. David worked as the sports director there for two years, coverings lots of PSU football, even crossing enemy lines to cover their games against Ohio State!
Some fun facts about David are that he's a graduate of Jacksonville University, where he played Division One golf throughout his entire college career. However, even though he's an avid golfer, David didn't have his first hole-in-one until just four years ago. And to celebrate his accomplishment, David says he "bought 19 people a cold one because that's what you do when you hit the big shot."
