Medina Police Seek Armed Bank Robber

Medina, OH - Police searching for the armed thug who robbed a First Merit bank Monday afternoon.

It happened at 4PM at the First Merit on N. Court Street.

19 Action News has learned the suspect was brandishing a handgun and wearing a hooded sweatshirt that covered his face when he approached a teller and flashed his weapon.

After receiving money and leaving the bank, a dye pack exploded in his hands, releasing maroon dye.

The suspect - described as a white male, approximately 5 '06' -5'08', 150-175 lbs, very short dark hair, wearing blue jeans and a hooded sweatshirt -  fled on foot.

The sweatshirt, believed to have been worn by the suspect, was located in a business parking lot on Northland Dr. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt.

A K-9 unit attempted. to track the suspect without success. A nearby pre-school was notified and they initiated their lock down procedure until a search of the area was completed by units of the police department and the Medina County Sheriffs Office.
