White House: Government taking extra steps; no specifics

White House-AP -- The White House says the government is taking "additional precautions" in light of the latest terror threat.

The F-B-I warns that al-Qaida may be plotting a "spectacular" terrorist attack aimed at causing a lot of deaths and damage.

White House spokesman Scott McClellan says the information U-S intelligence officials have isn't specific in terms of a time, place or method of attack.

But he says officials are taking the threat seriously.

McClellan says the nation's terror alert level isn't being raised from its current "code yellow" status because there are no specifics.
