WASHINGTON D.C. (WOIO) - President Obama has nominated N.Y. Federal Court of Appeals 2nd Circuit Judge Sonia Sotomayor to be the next U.S. Supreme Court Judge.
Sotomayor will be the first Hispanic judge on the Supreme Court.
Sotomayor was nominated by Bill Clinton in 1997 to fill the seat she currently holds as a Court of Appeals Judge.

Obama's nomination will have to be confirmed by the Senate Judiciary Committee and the full Senate.
