CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - New developments in the shooting death of a Cleveland Heights police officer.
19 Action News has learned a judge cleared the way for accused cop killer Timothy Halton, Jr. to go on trial.
Multiple sources confirm doctors have ruled Halton competent to stand trial.
He's charged with killing Cleveland Heights Officer Jason West in July of 2007.
Halton was declared competent before but, at the urging of his attorneys, pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.
The plea led to the new psych test, where he was found mentally fit to stand trial for the officer's murder.
A meeting is slated for Monday to work out a new trial date.
