STRONGSVILLE, OH (WOIO) - A Strongsville Police Officer was hit by a car early Monday morning while clearing debris near State Route 82.

The officer, 34-year-old William "Jason" Miller was on Valley Parkway just north of State Route 82 around 1:30 a.m. clearing debris from the roadway when a vehicle traveling northbound on Valley Parkway struck him.

The vehicle continued northbound after hitting the officer.

Diana Kall with Cleveland Metroparks tells 19 Action News that a driver passing by spotted the officer on the ground and unconscious.

The officer was treated and released from a MetroHealth Medical Center.

Evidence suggests the vehicle involved is a Dodge Intrepid manufactured between 1998 and 2004. The vehicle will have extensive damage to the front driver's side near the fog lamp and fender area.
