Travel Alert! Innerbelt Work Will Hamper Downtown Driving

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - ODOT has some sweeping changes proposed in the new Innerbelt plan. There are a couple of ramps that will be closed permanently and some redirecting. Mainly dealing with the Prospect and Chester ramps but it may change your route to and from downtown.

**EXISTING ROUTE; PROPOSED ROUTE**

"If you now exit at Carnegie, the ODOT change would force you to exit at either E. 22nd (near St. Vincent's Hospital) or Chester Ave."
ODOT:  From I-90 eastbound, the new plan would consolidate traffic from Carnegie Avenue and E. 22nd Street into a single access point at E. 22nd Street and Central Avenue.  The new route would add only an additional 465 feet to the already existing route - or the distance of a Victor Martinez homerun to the back of the Tribe's bullpen at Progressive FieldE. 22nd Street will be improved and Cedar Avenue will be relocated to accommodate the consolidated access route.

Save our Access:  "If you now exit at Prospect, the ODOT change would force you to exit at Chester."
ODOT: From I-90 westbound, the new plan would redirect traffic to the Chester Avenue exit ramp.  A new, one-way, southbound frontage road will then provide access to Euclid, Prospect and Carnegie Avenues.

Save our Access:  "If you now enter at Prospect to get to I-77, the ODOT change would force you to go to E. 21st. (Entering at Chester would also lead to I-77)."
ODOT:  From Prospect Avenue to go I-77 south, the new plan would redirect traffic down Prospect Avenue to the E. 21st Street ramp.

Save our Access:  "If you now enter at Prospect to get to I-90 west, the ODOT change would force you to go to E. 14th (or Chester)."
ODOT:  From Prospect Avenue, the new plan would redirect traffic to enter I-90 westbound at E. 14th Street or Chester Avenue (the Chester Avenue option is noted below).

Save our Access:  "If you now enter at Prospect to go east (such as to Euclid), the ODOT change would force you to take a new street to be constructed above the Innerbelt. The new street would begin at Carnegie, cross Prospect, cross Euclid, cross, Chester, cross Payne, cross Superior - and then drop down to the highway."
ODOT:  From Prospect Avenue to get to I-90 eastbound, the new plan would redirect traffic via a new frontage road across Euclid Avenue to the Chester Avenue ramp.  Drivers will enter I-90 eastbound at Chester Avenue and will not have to cross Payne or Superior Avenues.

Save our Access:  "ODOT also intends to close the I-77 exit to E. 9th Street. Drivers would be forced to exit at either E. 30th/Woodland or E. 14th."
ODOT:  The I-77 northbound ramp to E. 9th Street will be redesigned as part of a combined E. 9th/E. 14th/E. 22nd/Orange/Ontario ramp.  The I-77 southbound ramp to E. 9th Street will be redirected via the Orange/E. 30th Street entrance ramp.  The existing ramp requires a 540 degree turn to enter E. 9th Street.  The new, redesigned ramp will direct drivers to westbound Orange Avenue from where they may access 9th/E. 14th/E. 22nd/Orange/Ontario.
