LORAIN, OH (WOIO) - A Lorain father faces a slew of charges after police found a loaded gun, crack cocaine and weed within reach of his small children during a raid.

Police raided Levi Springer, Junior's W. 24th Street home just before 9AM Thursday morning and confiscated more than 50 grams of crack cocaine with a street value of $5K, a loaded .38-caliber semi-automatic handgun, a scale coated with crack, several small bags of marijuana and nearly $700 in cash.

Springer's one-year-old daughter and two-year-old son were home at the time of the raid. Police were horrified to find the loaded gun and drugs on the floor within easy reach of the kids.

The children are now in the custody of a family friend while the mother's whereabouts are probed.

Springer, meanwhile, slapped with a number of charges including possession of crack cocaine, trafficking in crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

The 27-year-old could possibly face federal charges due to the amount of drugs seized in addition to the a loaded gun found at his home.

This isn't Springer's first brush with the law - he was previously busted for assault, DUI and drugs.
