BRATENAHL, OH (WOIO) - A Bratenahl Police Officer rescued two women from a burning home late Friday evening with the help of other fellow officers.

Shortly before 12 a.m. Saturday, Bratenahl Police Officers were called to a house fire at 291 Corning Drive.

Police observed heavy smoke coming from a second floor window so they entered and announced themselves hoping to hear feedback from residents.

Officers immediately heard screams and cries coming from the second floor.

Officer Dominic Soric crawled down two hallways in heavy smoke where he located two female occupants of the home. Officer Soric helped both women crawl from a bedroom, back through the smoke, to the stairwell where they were met by Officer Tomo Marjanovic, Officer Paul Radolovic, and members of the Cleveland Fire Department and led to safety.

All of the parties were examined by EMS personnel on scene.  No injuries requiring medical treatment were sustained.

The Cleveland Police Arson unit concluded that the fire may have been a result of faulty wiring in the kitchen.
