CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Cleveland Police officers were shot at early Saturday morning while trying to break up a large fight in the area of 5307 Woodland.
Officers were on basic patrol around 3:50 a.m. when they saw a large fight and tried to intervene. As the officers approached, shots rang out and a 32-year-old male was struck in the shoulder by a bullet.
The officers tailed the suspects, but stopped to return to their cars to track the suspects better.
The suspects fired shots at the officers while they were heading back to their squad car.
No officers were struck by bullets and the officers did not return fire at the suspects.
Once the officers returned to their squad car, they searched the area for the suspects and detained three males who fit the description of those that shot them.
The men were arrested coming out of an apartment on Case Court and police were able to find the gun they allegedly used through helpful apartment residents.
