R&R Retract: Cleveland Cancels EMS Vacations As Staffing Levels Dip Dangerously Low

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Developing news surrounding efforts to keep you and your family safe during an emergency.

The city of Cleveland has asked EMS workers on vacation to be available until Wednesday. The move comes after an abuse of the sick call policy that sent staffing plummeting to unsafe levels on Saturday.

When Cleveland taps unscheduled workers to come in and help fill the staffing void, they receive rec time and a half, which throws off the budget.

The union is arguing that staff levels are under par and the city maintains they are adequate until sick call abuse happens.

The union president is meeting with the city later today to try and hammer out a resolution.
