NEW FRANKLIN, OH (WOIO) - Summit County Humane Society officials rescued several dozen cats from a single home Wednesday.

We're told the man living in the home moved out and moved in with his daughter after his son died.  Neighbors say the man still returned to feed the animals.

The Director of the Humane Society of Greater Akron says there may be as many as 50 cats living in deplorable conditions.

The cat shack is located on the five-hundred block of Nimisila Road.

Apparently, neighbors complained about a horrible smell Wednesday and alerted officials.

When the Humane Society arrived at the home, they were able to look through a window and see at least one dead feline.
