LORAIN, OH (WOIO) - An elderly woman is recovering with family members after someone broke into her home and intentionally set the house on fire.

The 85-year-old woman was sleeping around 4:35 a.m. Friday morning inside her Euclid Avenue home when a neighbor noticed that home appeared to be on fire and called for help.

Fire crews arrived and quickly put the fire out on the rear corner of the home.

The neighbor also noticed that the woman's gas tank lid on her car was opened.

Firefighters investigated the car and say something was stuck into the tank to be used as wick to make the car explode.

Luckily, there weren't enough fumes and the flame eventually flickered out.
