Undercover Crook: Guy Uses Creativity For a Hospital Ripoff

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - A burglar just got caught trying to rip off MetroHealth Medical Center.

Cops say a crook tried to unscrew and steal big railings inside the hospital and he did it undercover posing as a painter.

Cleveland Police say Thomas Supina was in a hallway near the ER at MetroHealth Medical Center. Police report shows he was dressed as a painter--even had paint with him and he had a screwdriver--unscrewing metal railings 8 feet long.

A hospital worker got suspicious and called police.  Cops found Supina did not have a work order for painting.

In fact, someone had stolen railings there before. So Supina was arrested.

Metal railings equals cash at a scrapyard.
