En Route?: Yellow Ribbons to Welcome Jim Traficant Home, When He Gets There

YOUNGSTOWN, OH (WOIO) - Former Ohio Congressman Jim Traficant is expected to return to Northeast Ohio following his 7-year stint in a federal prison.

James "Jim" Traficant was released from a prison in Minnesota late Wednesday morning but his current whereabouts are unknown.

Sporting a grey t-shirt, white shorts and white knee-high socks, Traficant disappeared into a taxi van with one blue bag.

The 68-year-old was convicted in 2002 of bribery and racketeering charges.

Traficant will be on probation for the next 3-years, it is unknown if he will run again for public office. Traficant was a 9-term Democrat.

Community members are celebrating Traficant's return by decorating trees throughout town with yellow ribbons and hosting several appreciation events this week into next.
