Top Cop: Cleveland Police Officer, Jim Simone Speaks to 19 after being Injured in a Car Crash

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - A suspected drunk driver slams into one of the most well known police officers in the city.

Maria Dawson was arraigned on drunk driving charges for the crash that injured Cleveland police officer Jim Simone.

It happened this weekend on the Lorain-Carnegie bridge. Officer Simone says he had just stepped out of his car when Dawson plowed into him.

Her blood alcohol level was reportedly four times over the legal limit!

Simone suffered a knee injury, but he's going to be okay.

Dawson is now out on bond.
