Elyria Fire tells 19 Action News that the boy fell over the embankment to a river bed near 122 Neufer Court by the end of a cul-de-sac.
The boy climbed up the cliff then fell back down to the riverbed.
Rescue crews set up a rope and pulley system to lower rescue crews down to him, and just after 8pm, they had him secured and back up to the top of the embankment.
The boy was lifeflighted to a Cleveland area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Elyria Fire Department says the victim was alert and complaining of leg and back pain.
