NELSON, OH (WOIO) - Two people fell to their death when their parachute malfunctioned while skydiving Saturday evening.

The male and female duo were tandem jumping from nine-thousand feet in Portage County.

Sierra Thomas, 22-years-old, and her 30-year-old jump instructor Daniel Mathie were members of the Cleveland Parachute Center.

The Portage County Sheriff says the two crashed in a field at 12954 S.R. 88 and that Thomas and Mathie died on scene before rescue crews arrived.
