CANTON, OH (WOIO) - Canton Police Detectives are asking for the public's help locating a person involved in home invasion who shot the homeowner's pregnant dog.

A man broke into a woman's home Tuesday evening looking for a tuition check at Tabitha Billing's Third Street N.E. home.

The intruder couldn't find the check, and ticked off Billing's dog in the process.

Billings attends Brown Mackie College and she thinks the man that broke into her home knew who she was and wanted to snatch up her college loan money.

The man entered the home wearing a white bandana over a portion of his face wielding a silver gun.

Jada, the homeowner's pregnant dog, tried to protect her owner and the owner's 3-year-old son from the intruder.

The intruder shot the dog on his way out of the home.

The bullet grazed Jada's skull and struck just above the left eye. The dog survived the shooting and is expected to have her litter of puppies any day now.

Anyone with information about this home invasion is asked to call the Canton Police Department's Detective bureau at (330) 438-4413.
