CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Homicide detectives are investigating the death of 24-year-old Lamont Bently.
Bently was found dead up against a building at Ada and Lakeview around 11:45 a.m. Saturday with severe head trauma.
Police say it appears as though Bently had been hit by a car and slammed into a building.
Larry Palmer, a resident nearby tells 19 Action News "I heard a loud thump."
Lamont Bently was a former Glenville High School football star and signed with Central State University in Pennsylvania.
Ted Ginn Sr., Glenville High School's head football coach, continues to be a mentor to at risk teens and considers them each like a son.
Ted Ginn Sr., says "we have to continue to mentor them."
Bently was found holding a bag of marijuana in one hand and a loaded handgun in the other.
There are no arrests at this time.
The Cuyahoga County Coroner ruled the at the cause of death for Bentley was blunt impacts to the head, trunk, and extremities of the body.
