Smooth Move: Robbers Pull Gun at Bar on Retired Cop and Bar Owner

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - A former Cleveland police officer and a bar owner shot two men who tried to rob a bar Monday evening.

The 18-year-old and 19-year-old male suspects entered Boardwalk Bar at 16011 Waterloo Road around 11:20 p.m. and asked for some food but the kitchen was closed.

The men left then returned several minutes later wearing masks and armed with a handgun.

The retired police officer and the bar's owner were both armed as well and immediately opened fire on the two men.

Both suspects were shot.

The first suspect was transported to Huron Road Hospital, the other was taken to Euclid General Hospital.

Authorities have not announced the identities of the suspects or their current medical condition at this time.
