Summit County, OH (WOIO) - Citing the dangers of distracted drivers, Summit is looking to become the next Ohio county where it's illegal to text while driving.

The legislation was introduced by County Councilman Jon Poda.

It sets fines up to $150 for sending or reading text messages while a vehicle is moving.

Similar legislation has already been passed in other Ohio counties, most recently in Cuyahoga.

Texting while driving is illegal in Eighteen states and the District of Columbia.
