CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -  The City of Cleveland Department of Public Health has notified the Cleveland Metropolitan School District that a Miles Park Elementary School student has been confirmed to have a case of the H1NI Flu.

This is the first confirmed case of H1N1 flu in Cleveland Public Schools.

Since April, CMSD administrators and staff have been educating families to protect the well being of students by explaining H1N1 Flu symptoms, preventive measures and the importance of staying home when sick. The District's website supports these efforts as another resource parents, students and staff can turn to for the latest information on the H1N1 Flu.

Letters will go home today alerting parents that a student in their school has a confirmed case of HINI Flu. The letter will also include appropriate flu precautions. Parents will also be notified about the confirmed H1N1 Flu case through the District's automated phone messaging system.
