School aide seizes gun from second-grader

EUCLID, Ohio (AP) - A school aide tipped off by a youngster
seized a 9 mm semiautomatic gun from a second-grader on the
playground, police said.
The 7-year-old boy had taken the gun from the home of a family friend in nearby Cleveland, police said.
The boy set the gun on the ground at one point Friday, said
officer Kevin Kelly. A classmate picked up the gun, pointed it at the ground and pulled the trigger, but it did not fire, police said.
Police and schools Superintendent Joffrey Jones said the first boy may have brought the gun to Upson Elementary School to show it off.
The boys who handled the gun have been suspended.
Det. Al Bush said the boys who handled the gun would be referred to Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court. He said Cleveland police would determine whether to prosecute the gun owner.
