CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Cleveland Browns wide-receiver Braylon Edwards is now being investigated by the Cleveland Police Department for assault.

This, after a Cleveland nightclub promoter who is also one of LeBron James' buddies accused Edwards of assaulting him outside a Cleveland nightclub.

Edward Givens, 28-years-old, says he was outside The View Ultralounge and Nightclub around 2:30 a.m. saying ggoodbye to some guests when he encountered Edwards.

Edwards reportedly approached Givens and began to hassel him and then finally threw a punch. [See Police Report]

Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James called Braylon Edwards "childish" Monday when asked about the incident involving his friend.

Givens said he went to Lutheran Hospital Monday morning because he suffered a black eye and a cut. He said he also has a headache.

LeBron James tells 19 Action News "it's unfortunate that it happened" and "hopefully my friend is doing well at this point."

Cleveland Browns Head Coach Eric Mangini spoke briefly about the incident Monday saying only "it's something I spoke to Braylon about" and that "this is something I will continue to gather information on."

Edwards Givens is a promoter with Eighty81 LLC, an events management and marketing firm that hosts parties on Sundays at The View Night Club.
