AKRON, OH (WOIO) - The Summit County Sheriff's Office is warning county residents to be wary of person(s) attempting to gain entrance into victims homes alleging they are contractors.
On October 2nd, 2009 at 2:14 p.m., an elderly female was talking on her phone and answered a knock at the door. A woman pushed her way into the victim's home and said she was there to measure for a fence. The victim was on the phone with a Deputy Sheriff, who was conducting a senior check.
The victim told the suspect whom she was talking to and the suspect fled in a white 4-door car.
Deputies could not locate the suspect.
Residents are reminded to ask for identification of anyone stating they are a contractor or utility worker and to deny access if a prior appointment is not made.
