EAST CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Anthony Sowell's arrest appears to be opening cold murder cases in East Cleveland.
The city is now investigating three murders in 1988 and 1989.
That is after Sowell returned to the city from service in the Marines and before he went to prison for attempted rape.
Carmella Karen Prater, Mary Thomas and Rosalind Garnder were murdered during the time Sowell lived in East Cleveland.
Police say Thomas and Garner were strangled. Prater could have been strangled but police were unable to make that determination when her body was discovered.
