Cleveland, OH (WOIO) - THIS JUST IN: The grand jury has returned an indictment against Anthony Sowell for assault and rape.
Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason made the announcement Monday afternoon.
Sowell is charged with assaulting and raping a 36-year-old female on September 22, 2009.
He could get of life in prison.
Sowell has already been indicted on one count of attempted murder, a felony of the first degree; two counts of rape, felonious of the first degree; two counts of kidnapping, felonies of the first degree; and two counts of felonious assault, felonies of the second degree. Sowell's charges carry specifications that include: notice of prior conviction, repeat violent offender, sexual motivation specification, and sexually violent predator specification.
According to Prosecutor Bill Mason, it was this case that led to the search warrant that ended with them finding 11 victims at Sowell's Imperial Avenue home.
