Hot Air: Balloon Boy's Parents To Plead Guilty

(CNN) - The parents in the well-publicized "balloon boy" case are to plead guilty today to charges connected with creating a hoax that their son had flown away in a large balloon.

Richard and Mayumi Heene are to make their pleas Friday in a Larimer County, Colorado court, according to a statement issued by Richard Heene's attorney.

Mayumi Heene is expected to plead guilty to false reporting to authorities, which is a misdemeanor. Richard Heene is expected to plead guilty to a felony offense of attempting to influence a public servant.

While those charges could carry jail time, the prosecutor has reportedly recommended probation.
