FIRST SEEN ON 19: BROOKLYN, OH (WOIO) - A Brooklyn couple has extra reason to be thankful this holiday - their pup has been found safe and sound.

Fire ripped through Jack Gibbons' Sprecher Avenue home Saturday. Luckily, Gibbons and his family were not home when the flames gutted the westside house.

The three family dogs managed to escape and were apparently picked up and let loose in a K-Mart parking lot.

The Animal Warden arrived on scene and found two of the three dogs, a Golden Retriever and Shepard mix. According to witnesses, Layla the Dachshund was snatched by an unidentified woman in the parking lot.

The Golden Retriever and the Shepard mix were reunited with Jack and Carole Gibbons, one with a broken leg.

Yesterday, a couple at East 61st and St. Clair called Gibbons and said they had Layla.

Happily, Jack went immediately there and now Layla is back home.
